
What is the PTO?
The Parent Teacher Organization (commonly referred to as "PTO") is a school-specific volunteer organization that allows parent/guardians of Hickory Ridge Elementary School students and staff members the opportunity to build community and enhance the lives of our HRES Cowboy family through volunteer opportunities, special events and fundraisers.
How We Work
President
The President oversees the organization and executive board, approves & serves as the primary contact/liaison for the HRES Administration. They represent the organization at external meetings and coordinates the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the organization is served.

Secretary
The Secretary keeps all records of the organization, takes and records meeting minutes, prepares the agenda, handles correspondence, and notifies members of scheduled meetings. The secretary also maintains PTO records (bylaws, rules, membership list, etc.)
Treasurer
The Treasurer receives all funds of the organization, keeps an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, and pays out funds in accordance with the approval of the executive board. They maintain all financial records and reports.
Vice President of Communications
The VP of Communications assists with all communication between the PTO and parents while maintaining the PTO website and social media accounts.

Fundraising
The VP of Fundraising is responsible for strategizing and executing different methods for raising the amount needed to meet the proposed unit budget. They also work with the treasurer to keep financial records and prepare reports.

Hospitality
The VP of Hospitality oversees all committees that organize and run each special event or activity for HRES staff
that is sponsored by the PTO.

The VP of Special Events oversees all committees that organize and run each on campus activity sponsored by the PTO.

Volunteering
The VP of Volunteering is responsible for the recruitment of volunteers for PTO events and activities. They may also work with school staff to determine volunteer needs throughout the schoolyear.
